Raising the Consciousness is a production company that produces healing, music events and media projects that provide simple solutions for conscious living. Our mission is to inspire Global Change through Individual Action. Raising the consciousness is made up of Keith Helke, Colleen Buckman and Susan Shehata.
Raising the Consciousness has produced the Annual Twin Cities Kirtan Fest, the music aspect of the 2010 Twin Cities Yoga Festival, two kirtans with Dave Stringer, An Evening with Deva Premal and Miten with Manose, kirtan with Brenda McMorrow, and a handful of other conscious music and healing events. RTC has also been responsible for marketing support for events such as kirtan with Suzanne Sterling, and local visits of Deepak Chopra, Sri Sri Ravi Shankar and Dr. Ibrahim Jaffe.
Raising the Consciousness, the radio show, aired for nearly two and a half years on AM950, which at the time was the Minnesota affiliate of Air America, as well as on Contact Talk Radio, via internet and satellite, for an additional several months. You may now listen to shows on our archive page, which is rich with knowledge from such varied guests as Polar Explorer Will Steger to Founder of the American Holistic Medical Association, Dr. Norm Shealy. The show is hosted by Susan Shehata and Colleen Buckman, with additional production by Keith Helke.
Raising the Consciousness is here to inspire, uplift and educate. We gather potent guests, live performers and useful information so that people can live closer to their dreams and remember that this life is our creation.
COMING UP NEXT:

The Fourth Annual Twin Cities Kirtan Fest
Saturday, March 2nd
4pm-11pm
One Yoga: Non-Profit Yoga Studio
721 W. 26th St.; Uptown Minneapolis
This joyous community event is a celebration of Sanskrit participatory music, or Kirtan. Kirtan is a form of bhakti yoga; the yoga of devotion. The music connects participants with their hearts and spirits, and evokes feelings of bliss. The festival features local and regional bands each with their own unique sound, to bring kirtan lovers as well as those new to kirtan, a broad range of what our Midwest scene has to offer.
This year’s festival includes Minneapolis veteran bands, Wild Moon Bhaktas and Sitara & Kalyani with Pavan Kumar; two newly formed local bands, Soul Flower and Maha Japa; as well as regional guests, Lila from Milwaukee and DJ Taz (Tazdeen Rashid) from Chicago, who will cap off the evening.
The event will also feature a silent auction with proceeds going directly to charity. Cross the street, for a bite to eat, at Common Roots Cafe or French Meadow Bakery and Café, which both offer organic and gluten-free menus to make it a full day of community. The 2013 Twin Cities Kirtan Festival is sponsored by Mammaste, Common Grounds Yoga & Music Festival, Tree of Life Yoga, the Edge Magazine, Restore Healing and Spark Wellness.
Tickets are a suggested donation of $20 in advance; $25 at the door. Advance sales are encouraged as space is limited.
